Terrorist Killed in Ongoing Encounter at Kulgam: Army

Diplomat Correspondent

Kulgam, (DD) A terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces in the Akhal forest area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, the Army said on Saturday.

The encounter began on Friday evening after security forces launched a search operation based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

According to the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, intermittent and intense firing continued throughout the night. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), it stated, “Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact. A terrorist has been neutralised and the operation is ongoing.”

The identity and affiliation of the slain terrorist have not yet been confirmed. Additional forces have been deployed, and a thorough search of the area is underway to rule out the presence of any more militants.

The operation remains active, and further updates are expected as the situation unfolds(DD)
