Srinagar,(TDD): An unidentified terrorist has been killed in an ongoing gunfight between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of the Harwan-Tral axis of Dachigam forests in Srinagar, officials said today.
Gunshots were initially heard late Monday night in the area, prompting a swift response by security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation.
An official told the diplomat that gunfire was reported during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched following specific intelligence inputs. He said a body has been observed and operation is on in the area. “One terrorist has been killed so far,” he said.
As security forces approached a suspected hideout, the hiding terrorists opened fire, which was immediately retaliated. The area remains cordoned off, and the operation is ongoing.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on X: “Based on specific intelligence input, joint parties of SFs launched CASO in the upper reaches of Dachigam forest. Contact established. OP is in progress. Details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
