Kishtwar, TDD,The long-awaited Hatta Receiving Grid Station in Kishtwar has finally been made operational, addressing decades-long power supply issues and bringing much-needed relief to thousands of residents.

The achievement was celebrated by the community and commended by political leaders, who acknowledged the relentless efforts of those involved in completing the project.

BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sunil Sharma and MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan visited the site and praised Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Sudhir Sharma, and Executive Engineer, Electric Division, JPDCL, Kishtwar Latief Wani for their exemplary dedication and perseverance.


“This is a proud moment for Kishtwar. The operationalization of the Hatta recieving Station marks a significant step toward resolving the power crisis in this area. AEE Sudhir Sharma deserves special recognition for his tireless hard work and commitment to seeing this project through,” said Sunil Sharma.
MLA Shagun Parihar highlighted the importance of the grid station in stabilizing the region’s electricity supply.
“The Hatta Grid Station will transform the lives of people in Kishtwar. For years, we faced irregular and insufficient power supply, but this milestone will pave the way for consistent electricity access. This success is a result of the dedication of the entire team, particularly AEE Sudhir Sharma, who worked tirelessly to overcome various challenges,” Parihar stated.
The project has been in a long-standing demand of the locals, who expressed their joy and gratitude following the announcement.
“We have been waiting for this day for years. The lack of proper electricity was a major hurdle in our daily lives, affecting homes, businesses, and essential services. The grid station’s operationalization is a ray of hope for the entire community,” said a local resident.
The Hatta Grid Station is expected to ensure uninterrupted electricity to Kishtwar and its adjoining areas, benefiting households, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and businesses.
The officials revealed that the station has the capacity to handle Kishtwar growing power demands efficiently, reducing outages and improving overall infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the locals also expressed their appreciation for the leadership and coordination between political representatives and the administration in prioritizing the completion of the project. With the Hatt Grid Station now operational, hopes are high for better development opportunities in Kishtwar (TDD)
Pertinently, the Executive Engineer Electric Division issued a communication following a story published by the Diplomat Digital regarding the non-functioning of the Hatta Grid Station because of shortage of staff.
Referring to the press clipping/YouTube channel which highlighted the grievances of the people, the administration informed the concerned officials that the people of the district Kishtwar faced significant inconvenience due to the no-functionality of the said receiving station, Hatta Kishtwar.
“…… it is requested to make the receiving station Hatta Kishtwar functional at an earliest under an intimation to this office so that the grievance may be redressed, and district administration is appraised accordingly,” the communication of December 14, 2024, conveyed to the concerned following the story by The Diplomat Digital’s Imran Shah.TDD
