The Light of Diwali— The Soul of India

Diwali is not merely a festival — it is a feeling, a symbol of light, hope, truth, and love that unites humanity. When a small clay lamp glows in the darkness, it is not just fire and flame; it is the radiance of goodness that pierces through the shadows of hatred, prejudice, and despair. Diwali reminds us that truth always triumphs, no matter how deep the darkness may seem.

The beauty of India lies in her diversity — a living garden of countless flowers, each with its own fragrance, colour, and identity. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, and Jains — all form the many hues of this magnificent bouquet called Bharat. Diwali carries the message that these colours must never fade; rather, they must shine together through love, harmony, and brotherhood.

As the lamps of Diwali are lit, they must not only illuminate our homes but also our hearts. Hearts that have grown dim with bitterness must glow again with understanding and compassion. Minds clouded by hatred or division must be brightened by tolerance and national unity. Diwali teaches us that sharing light never diminishes it — it multiplies it.

The return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya, celebrated through this festival, is not just an ancient legend; it is an eternal reminder that falsehood, greed, and injustice can never endure. In the end, truth and righteousness prevail. Today, when the world is burdened with conflict, intolerance, and unrest, India must once again stand tall as the messenger of Diwali’s ideals — peace, honesty, and moral strength.

Our nation is great because it stands united despite its differences, because every faith here respects the other. Diwali reminds us that this sacred thread of unity must never break. The rows of lamps that adorn our homes should stretch across every boundary and reach every heart.

Let us, therefore, resolve this Diwali to banish the darkness of hatred with the light of love, to bridge the distances between hearts, and to strengthen the bond that makes India one family — a family bound not by religion, caste, or creed, but by humanity itself.

May the light of Diwali remind us once again that India is not merely a country — it is a family whose greatest strength lies in the happiness, peace, and love of all its people. This is the true message of Diwali, and this is the eternal soul of India.DD
