Theft case worked out in Bathindi

Jammu:DD, Police today claimed to have arrested a thief in Bathindi.

Acting swiftly on a complaint regarding bovine theft, Police Post Bathindi has arrested one person involved in lifting bovine animals and successfully recovered five stolen bovines.

On October 3, 2025, a complaint was received at Police Post Bathindi regarding the theft of five bovine animals from the complainant’s residence. Acting on the information, a case FIR No. 290/2025 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort.

During the course of investigation, a police team from PP Bathindi intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02DL 1094 during the intervening night of October 3 and 4, 2025, in the Nowabad Sunjwan area. The vehicle was found loaded with five bovine animals that had been mercilessly tied and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.

The driver was apprehended on the spot. Upon identification by the complainant, the recovered bovines were confirmed to be the same stolen animals. The animals were later handed over to the rightful owner on supurdnama.

Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the involvement of other persons in the theft and illegal transportation racket.DD
