Thousands turn up for Army’s Recruitment Rally in Baramulla district

‘JAK LI’s 161 Infantry Battalion organises mega rally for youth’

Srinagar, (TDD): Baramulla town saw an impressive turnout today as thousands of young candidates gathered early in the morning for an Army recruitment rally conducted by the 161 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army (Home & Hearth) Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI).

The recruitment drive, which began at 6:00 AM at Ganthmulla, will run until November 17, 2024, screening aspirants from multiple districts for various soldier roles within the Territorial Army.

“Candidates started arriving early, some as early as 4 a.m., forming long queues in hopes of joining the Army,” an official said.

Officials noted that the rally offers structured opportunities for eligible candidates from designated areas, including Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Bandipora, where they can go through document verification, physical screening, and medical evaluations.

The Army has organized the schedule with Baramulla candidates being screened on November 11-12, Ganderbal and Budgam on November 13, and Kupwara and Bandipora on November 14.

Available positions include Soldier General Duty, Clerk, Chef, and specialized trades like Artisan Woodworker and Equipment Repairer. Reserved days on November 16 and 17 are set aside to complete any pending medical tests.

The Territorial Army highlighted that roles such as clerks and tradesmen are exclusively open to residents of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.(TDD)
