Kishtwar:DD, In a continued crackdown against the growing menace of narcotics, Kishtwar Police has tightened its grip on drug syndicates by arresting three notorious peddlers in two separate operations.
Police said that over 14 grams of heroin-like substance and ₹ 24, 800 in cash were seized from their possession.
According to police sources, a patrol team from Police Station Kishtwar, led by SI Lal Hussain, was conducting routine checks at Chowgan Ground when two habitual offenders, identified as Mohd Iqbal Khanday and Mohd Yaseen Khanday, both sons of Mohd Iqbal Khanday and residents of Keshwan (presently Shaktinagar, Kishtwar), were intercepted. On personal search, 8 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from them.
In another successful operation, a patrol team from Police Post Shalimar headed by PSI Sofi Ashraf, acting on early morning surveillance at Malipeth, apprehended a third drug peddler identified as Ajaz Ahmed Khanday, son of Khushi Mohd Khanday, resident of Thakre (presently Girinagar, Kishtwar). The search led to the recovery of 5.5 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
Following the recoveries, FIR No 215 of 2025 and FIR No. 217 of 2025 have been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and wider drug network.DD
