Three policemen Injured as escort vehicle in Mehbooba Mufti’s convoy plunges into gorge in Baramulla

Diplomat Desk

Srinagar,(DD): Three police personnel sustained injuries on Sunday when an escort vehicle in Mehbooba Mufti’s convoy skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Watergam, Sopore, Baramulla district.

According to officials, the accident took place when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President was on her way to Kupwara. The vehicle, which was part of her security escort, reportedly lost control on a slippery stretch of the road and veered off course, tumbling down into a deep gorge.

Eyewitnesses said the crash caused panic within the convoy, but quick action by security personnel ensured the injured officers were rescued swiftly and rushed to a nearby medical facility. Fortunately, all three officers sustained minor injuries and are said to be out of danger.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, though initial reports suggest poor road conditions and possible icy patches may have contributed to the mishap. Meanwhile, PDP sources confirmed that Mehbooba Mufti was unharmed and continued her journey as scheduled.(DD)
