Qazigund, (Kulgam):TDD,To curb the rising cases of traffic rule violations, particularly among the youth, the Traffic Police in Qazigund, led by DySP Traffic Mohammad Aslam, organized a special drive targeting bikers engaging in risky practices. A special checkpoint (Naka) was set up at Nowyug Qazigund, where the team enforced strict measures against bikers without helmets, those involved in triple riding, and those caught in reckless driving.
This initiative aims to tackle the concerning increase in motorcycle accidents that have resulted from non-compliance with basic traffic safety rules. During the drive, numerous motorcycles were either seized or issued challans for various traffic violations. The campaign serves as a stern reminder to the youth about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
According to DySP Traffic Mohammad Aslam, the campaign isn’t solely about penalizing offenders but also about fostering awareness among the youth about responsible driving. “The lives of our youth are more important than anything else. We urge everyone to wear helmets, avoid triple riding, and drive responsibly,” he stated.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to instill safer driving habits, especially among younger riders who are more likely to ignore these basic yet critical safety measures. The police also held on-the-spot awareness sessions, explaining the risks associated with reckless riding and the life-saving importance of wearing a helmet. The drive is expected to be a continuous effort, with frequent checks aimed at discouraging unsafe practices on the roads.
Traffic authorities have highlighted that accidents involving motorcycles often lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially when riders are not wearing helmets. Despite various awareness campaigns, many youths remain oblivious to the dangers. With the recent drive, officers hope that the sight of strict enforcement will reinforce the seriousness of these rules.
For the police, the mission is clear: to create a safer environment on the roads and protect the lives of young bikers. “We are committed to taking strict action against violators,” Aslam reiterated. He encouraged parents and guardians to advise young riders about the importance of these regulations to ensure their safety.
The Traffic Police’s initiative also includes distributing informational materials to the public and engaging with local community leaders to spread the message further. Emphasis has been placed on reaching educational institutions and youth centers to make sure the message reaches the heart of the issue—an attitude shift among the youth regarding road safety.
As this special drive continues, the Traffic Police in Qazigund aims to bring about a significant decrease in road accidents related to non-compliance with safety norms. The responsibility for safer roads lies not only with the authorities but with every citizen. Following traffic rules and prioritizing safety can be a simple yet profound step toward a safer community.
With firm steps and active public participation, Qazigund can hope for safer streets and responsible riders who understand the value of their own lives.TDD
