Tragedy in Budgam: 6-Year-Old Boy Dies, Sister Critical After Falling Into Tubewell

Budgam, (DD): A heart-wrenching incident occurred in Harwani village of Khansahab in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday, where two young siblings fell into a deep tubewell. The accident claimed the life of a six-year-old boy, while his five-year-old sister remains in critical condition.

The victims have been identified as Basit Ahmad Khan (6) and Zainab (5), children of Mohammad Afrooz Khan, residents of Harwani.

According to local sources, the children were playing near the tubewell when the mishap took place. Both were pulled out in an unconscious state and rushed to the nearby Sub-District Hospital Khansahab. Basit was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

Zainab was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment, where her condition is reported to be critical.

Authorities have taken cognisance of the incident, and further investigation is underway.(DD)
