Udhampur : DD, A Sambar deer was killed when it was hit by a truck in the Battal Ballian section of the Jammu-Kashmir National Highway Udhampur . The local residents informed the Wildlife Department as soon as the accident took place.
After being intimated, a team of the Wildlife Department reached the spot immediately. They took charge of the deer’s body and arranged for a post-mortem examination.
As per Wildlife officials, the region is reported to have a high concentration of deer, including Sambar deer. They opine that the animal might have wandered away from its forest habitat onto the road, resulting in the tragic accident.DD
