Tragic Fratricide incident: Two policemen killed, one injured in J&K’s Udhampur

Udhampur, (TDD): In a tragic turn of events, two policemen were killed and one injured early Sunday morning in a suspected case of fratricide and suicide in the Rehambal area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when the officers, traveling in a departmental vehicle from Sopore to STC Talwara, were caught in a sudden exchange of gunfire within the vehicle. Two officers lost their lives, while the third sustained injuries.

Senior officials, including DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat and SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure, rushed to the scene to lead the investigation. Authorities are probing the incident, with preliminary findings suggesting fratricide followed by suicide.

Forensic teams, including experts from the State Investigation Agency (SIA), are conducting a thorough examination to uncover the motive and sequence of events surrounding the tragedy(TDD)
