Transforming Education in J&K: Union Cabinet approves 13 New Kendriya Vidyalayas

Srinagar, (TDD): In a monumental decision aimed at revolutionizing the education landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of 13 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the region. This initiative is designed to enhance educational opportunities, particularly in underserved and remote areas, ensuring that every student has access to quality education.

The approved locations for the new KVs are spread across both the Jammu region and the Kashmir valley:

In Jammu Region:

Gool (Ramban)

Bani and Ramkote (Kathua)

Reasi and Kakriyal (Katra)

Mughal Maidan (Kishtwar)

Gulpur (Poonch)

Vijaypur (Samba)

Panchari (Udhampur)

In Kashmir Valley:

Drugmulla (Kupwara)

Ratnipora (Pulwama)

Galander Chandhara (Pulwama)

With this historic move, Jammu and Kashmir emerges as the top recipient of new Kendriya Vidyalayas among all states and union territories in the country. This expansion is expected to benefit thousands of students by improving access to high-quality education in areas that have long been underserved.

Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, took to social media to express his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the special focus on Jammu and Kashmir. In his tweet, he said:
“Thanks PM Sh @narendramodi ji for giving special consideration to JammuAndKashmir. Union Cabinet approves 13 new KendriyaVidyalayas for different locations across J&K, out of which over 50% fall in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency.”

This strategic move reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening education in remote and mountainous regions, ensuring that every child, no matter their background, has access to top-tier educational opportunities. (TDD)
