Poonch, DD, In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft, Poonch Police today apprehended two individuals involved in a series of motorcycle thefts, leading to the recovery of three stolen bikes and one car. The arrests were made following a well-coordinated operation based on specific intelligence inputs.
Acting on credible information, a special naka (checkpoint) was laid at Sangala Chowk by police station Mendhar where vigilant police personnel initiated thorough checks on passing vehicles. During the operation, two youths were intercepted while riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate. Upon being stopped, both individuals were asked to produce valid documents pertaining to the motorcycle; however, they failed to present any such documents, raising immediate suspicion.
The suspects were subjected to sustained questioning, during which they confessed to having stolen the motorcycle from the Pathaana Teer area. Upon further interrogation, the duo disclosed their identities as:
1. Sameer Khan, son of Mohd Azam Khan, resident of Dharana, Tehsil Mendhar
2. Imtiaz Hussain, son of Mohd Taj, belonging to the Gujjar community, resident of Salwah, presently residing at Gohlad, Mendhar
Subsequent to their confession, the police conducted follow-up operations based on the information provided by the accused, which resulted in the recovery of:
• Two additional motorcycles, one bearing registration number JK12B 3394 and second without number plate.
• One Hyundai i10 car, bearing registration number 2199, which is suspected to be linked to criminal activities,
The swift action by the police not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also highlighted the efficiency of intelligence-based operations in curbing vehicle thefts in the region.DD
