Two-day District Level Hamdiya Naatiya Mushaira organized by LAACL Kargil begins

Kargil, DD: In honor of the holy month of Ramadan-e-Kareem, the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (LAACL), Kargil, commenced a two-day District-Level Multilingual Hamdiya Naatiya Mushaira at Academy Hall today.

The event was graced by 22 poets from different parts of the district who described the virtues of Ramadan by rendering their poetic compositions in Purgi, Balti, Dard Sheena and Urdu languages.

Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho was the chief guest while Ghulam Ahmed Jawan (State Awardee) was the guest of honor on the occasion. Noted poet, writer Padma Shree Awardee, Dr. Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat was present in the presidium as Sadar-e-Mehfil while Haji Mohd Ibrahim Rahi was the special guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director, Information, Imteeaz Kacho appreciated the contribution of LAACL-Kargil and expressed gratitude to it for having organized the important event while also acknowledging the participants for their involvement.

Kacho commended the Deputy Secretary of LAACL-Kargil for being at the forefront and promoting the art and culture of Kargil at the national level. He emphasized that the academy has played a significant role in balancing the diverse cultures and languages of the region. He also noted that LAACL has carved out its own identity with the primary goal of promoting all cultures and languages of all corners of the region.

Highlighting the media’s role, the Joint Director said the media persons and media agencies of Ladakh have been instrumental in promoting culture and languages. He urged everyone to support and promote their local languages or mother tongues, as they are integral to one’s identity.

Additionally, Kacho lauded the efforts of DIPR-Kargil and AIR/DD for playing a crucial role in the promotion and publicity of such events at a larger scale. He assured that DIPR-Kargil will work tirelessly and it remains committed to promoting local languages and cultures.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Ahmed Jawan also appreciated Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil organizing the literary event. While hailing poets for their successful rendering of poetry, Jawan expressed hope that men of letters can play a greater role in bringing positive changes in society. He said that Holy month of Ramadan preaches self -control, tolerance and patience and is an annual strengthening of one’s inner personality.

Ghulam Ahmed Jawan in his speech complimented the Academy for organizing such poetic symposia from time to time thereby giving fillip to literary activities in the district.

The poets who recited their poetry on the occasion include Padma Shri Awardee Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat (Balti), Haji Mohd Ibrahim Rahi (Purgi), Raza Amjad Budgami, Shina/Urdu), Akhone Ali Subour (Balti), Mohd Yaseen Ansari (Shina/Urdu)), Mohd Ali Ashur (Balti/Urdu), Mohd Shafi Sagar (Shina/Urdu), Mohd Ali Khumar (Purgi/Urdu), Haji Gh. Qadir Zaki (Shina), Mohd Hussain Fayaz (Purgi/Urdu), Skarma Junglay (Purgi/Ladakhi), Faroz Ahmad Charag (Shina/Urdu), Mirza Mehdi Jaffari (Purgi), Ab. Rehman Misbahi (Shina/Urdu), Ali Asghar Rinchan (Balti/Urdu), Fida Ali Karkiti (Shina/Urdu), Zakir Hussain Karbalai (Purgi/Urdu), Tsewang Rigzin (Purgi/Ladakhi), Kacho Ahmadi Najaat (Purgi/Urdu), Abdul Hadi Balti (Balti), Aga Syed Kazim (Purgi/Urdu), Arif Hussain Arif (Shina/Urdu).

Earlier in his welcome speech, Deputy Secretary LAACL, Kargil, Nazir Hussain spoke about the aims and objectives of the two-day literary event. He extolled the Writers/Poets fraternity saying that their contribution in the literacy field is commendable and has been instrumental to make a healthy society.

He said that Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil is always committed to the preservation and promotion of the rich Art, Culture and Languages in Kargil district through such literary and many other such programmes.

Among others who were present on the occasion included Writers, Poets, District Officers, Prominent Citizens and a jam-packed gathering of literary enthusiasts.

Noted Balti & Urdu Scholar Shujat Ali Shujat conducted the program proceedings, while as Zakir Hussain Khan, Head Assistant, LAACL, Kargil delivered the vote of thanks at the end.DD
