‘Central Intelligence Agency’s Input helped Police intercept vehicle before it could reach Srinagar’

Lakhanpur (Kathua): DD, Police today claimed to have detained two persons and recovered unaccounted cash from their possession, they were travelling in, at Lakhanpur during a surprise naka.
The naka was established following intelligence inputs from a central intelligence agency about the presence of huge cash underneath the foot mats of a SUV Creta bearing registration number HR98-J-9889, as police sources.
Accordingly, the police sources said, the police team, under the supervision of senior police officers and in presence of a magistrate, intercepted the vehicle that was coming from Punjab border into Jammu and Kashmir.
During the checking of the vehicles, the police sources said that they recovered an unaccounted cash amount from the underneath of the foot mat of the intercepted SUV.
Immediately, they stated that the police detained both the persons, who were heading for Srinagar with the cash.
“The source of the cash is being ascertained, and the vehicle alongwith the detained persons have been shifted to the Lakhanpur Police Station for further investigation,” said the police sources.
They said that the police have filed an FIR in the matter whereas FSL, and Crime investigation teams have rushed to the spot to assist the local police in investigation.DD
