Srinagar,(DD): The Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended two doctors following a shocking case of medical negligence at a private hospital in Sopore, where a woman, admitted for ear surgery, allegedly underwent an unintended hysterectomy.
The incident, which sparked widespread outrage, earlier led to the sealing of the hospital’s operation theatre as authorities launched a probe into the serious lapse.
As per official orders, Dr. Anjum Nazir, Consultant Gynaecologist at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer (Diploma in Anesthesia) at District Hospital (DH) Bandipora, have been suspended with immediate effect.
Additionally, both doctors have been barred from engaging in any form of private practice across Jammu & Kashmir until further orders.
Authorities have confirmed that Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital’s operation theatre will remain sealed until the completion of the investigation. Officials have assured strict action against those found guilty, emphasizing the need for accountability in private healthcare facilities.
The case has raised serious concerns about medical oversight and patient safety, with calls for stricter regulations to prevent such devastating errors in the future.(DD)
