Two nomads Killed, Two Injured After Stoneslide Hits Doka in Kulgam’s Upper Waltangu Nard

Kulgam, (DD)In a tragic incident, two nomads lost their lives and 2two others sustained injuries after a tree fall triggered a stoneslide, striking their temporary shelter (doka) in the upper reaches of Waltangu Nard area of Kulgam district.

The incident occurred late last night amid ongoing weather disturbances in the region. The impact of the falling debris flattened the doka, resulting in the death of two occupants on the spot. The injured were rescued and shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam visited the site to assess the situation and ensure necessary assistance to the affected families. An official team accompanied the DC to supervise relief efforts and evaluate any further risks in the area.

Authorities have urged nomadic families and residents in upper hilly areas to exercise caution due to the recent landslide and stoneslide warnings issued by the Meteorological Department.
