Udhampur: TDD, In the wake of recent terrorist activities in Basantgarh, Dudu and Latti, the Udhampur Police have implemented extraordinary security measures for the third and final phase of elections scheduled for tomorrow. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure provided a detailed overview of the comprehensive security arrangements while talking to Media Persons here at Udhampur.
SSP Nagpure said that the polling parties, consisting of both polling staff and security personnel, are being dispatched to their designated locations. He emphasized that the district police have been meticulously planning and preparing for this crucial democratic exercise for an extended period. The primary focus has been on establishing a robust security network across the district, which includes the strategic deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs), the installation of checkpoints at key locations, and the positioning of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel throughout the area.
With a total of 654 polling booths spread across the Udhampur district, authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that all polling parties are inducted by this evening. Recognizing the potential vulnerabilities during night-time hours, special night QRTs have been activated, and night domination measures have been put in place to maintain a vigilant and secure environment throughout the night preceding the elections.
SSP Nagpure assured the public that from 7:00 AM tomorrow, when voters begin to arrive at polling stations, an extensive security apparatus will be operational. This multi-layered security setup will comprise CAPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, and district police personnel. To ensure smooth coordination and swift response to any potential issues, senior officers will be actively supervising these arrangements, with the ultimate goal of conducting free, fair, and transparent elections across the district.
Particular attention is being paid to the areas of Latti, Dudu, and Basantgarh, which have been identified as sensitive zones requiring heightened security. In these locations, additional measures have been implemented, including the deployment of special QRTs and the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers to oversee operations.
SSP Nagpure made a heartfelt appeal to the voters of Udhampur, encouraging them to participate enthusiastically in the election process. He reassured the public that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure their safety, urging them to exercise their democratic right without fear or hesitation.
As Udhampur prepares for this final phase of elections, the police and security forces stand ready to protect the fundamental right of citizens to participate in the democratic process, ensuring that the voice of every voter is heard without intimidation or interference.TDD
