Jammu, DD: UIET, University of Jammu hosted a vibrant and emotionally charged Fresher-cum-Farewell Party titled “Genesis Gala” today.
The event served as a unique platform where B.Tech second year students (Civil and CSE) extended a warm welcome to the newly admitted batch and bid a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing students of the final year. The celebration was marked by exuberance, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of camaraderie among the students. The event featured a series of lively cultural performances, fun activities, ramp walks, and interactive games that kept the audience engaged throughout the day.
The students enthusiastically participated and showcased their talents, adding charm and energy to the celebration.
The highlight of the event was the Mr. and Ms. Fresher and Mr. and Ms. Farewell contests, where students competed for the prestigious titles. The contestants were judged based on multiple criteria including confidence, presentation, communication skills, and stage presence.
After a tough competition, Mr. Fresher was awarded to Raghav Bajaj, while Ms. Fresher was won by Manyata.
For the outgoing batch, Sujal was crowned Mr. Farewell and Vandita was titled Ms. Farewell. In addition to these, several other exciting titles were distributed based on individual performances and unique traits demonstrated during the event. The judging panel for the occasion included esteemed faculty members Dr. Anutusha Dogra, Dr. Nisha Choudhary and Er. Ritika Gupta, who commended the students for their vibrant participation and praised their confidence and creativity.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus (JU) congratulated the newly admitted batch and extended his blessings and good wishes to the outgoing students.
He emphasized the importance of embracing new beginnings and cherishing past experiences.
He advised the students to take benefit from most of the opportunities available in the campus and focus not only on academics but also on building character and acquiring life skills. He further encouraged the students to strive for excellence and contribute positively to society as they step into the next phase of their lives.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET stressed that the students should work on holistic development by learning to work in teams, develop leadership skills, and most importantly, uphold the values of discipline and respect. He wished everyone success, happiness, and strength in all the endeavours and asked them to study and work hard for the betterment of their individual self.
The program was coordinated by the students of B.Tech second year. The event was organised under the supervision of Er. Sandeep Raj, Er. Sushant Gagal, Dr. Nisha Choudhary, Dr. Vivudh Gupta and Er. Rakshit Khajuria.
The entire teaching and non-teaching staff of UIET and Kathua Campus attended the event.DD
