Srinagar, (DD) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah reacted to the formation of a new political alliance comprising Sajad Lone’s People’s Conference (PC), Hakeem Yaseen’s People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and the Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Justice and Development Front (JDF).
Taking to social media platform X, Omar wrote: “Unka alliance unko mubarak. The people of J&K will judge them by their actions and not just words.”
The newly announced front, seen as a significant shift in regional politics, aims to present an alternative narrative ahead of the upcoming elections. Sajad Lone, speaking at a joint press conference in Srinagar, said the alliance was born out of a growing governance vacuum, deteriorating public trust, and the increasing alienation of youth in the region.
Senior PC leaders cited the “urgent need for a credible political force” that addresses ground realities and restores faith in democratic institutions.
Reacting to media queries, Omar Abdullah refrained from elaborating on whether NC would consider any form of cooperation with the new bloc, instead reiterating his party’s focus on grassroots issues and constitutional rights.
Political analysts believe the alliance could potentially alter electoral dynamics, especially in north and central Kashmir, though its long-term viability remains uncertain(DD)
