Udhampur:TDD, The revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi on the Trikuta Hills in Reasi district witnessed an unprecedented surge in devotees during the recent Sharad Navratri. Over 4 lakh pilgrims paid their obeisance at the holy cave, seeking blessings from the goddess.

According to official figures, the highest footfall was recorded on the third day of Navratri with 47,500 devotees. However, the last three days witnessed a slight dip in the number of pilgrims. The ongoing Shat Chandi Maha Yagna at the shrine, which was organized to pray for the prosperity of the nation, concluded on Saturday with a grand feast.

The pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi has been witnessing a steady increase in recent years, especially during festive seasons like Navratri. Despite the surge, the shrine authorities ensured smooth operations and provided all necessary amenities to the pilgrims.TDD
