Udhampur :DD, Preparations for the forthcoming Mahashiv Ratri festival saw the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organizing its Annual Kanwar Yatra today jointly with the Bajrang Dal, which saw a large number of devotees in attendance.
VHP State President Rajesh Gupta was Chief Guest at the event. The yatra started in Udhampur and is set to end at Sudh Mahadev, as per the Kanwar Yatra tradition, a holy trip taken by followers of Lord Shiva. Thousands of locals from Udhampur assembled at Jakhani Chowk on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to greet the procession with fervor. The function witnessed major participation by members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and BJP, who saturated the atmosphere with devotional slogans of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Shri Ram” as they danced to the tune of drum beats.DD
