Poonch :DD, The 5 J&K Battalion NCC Poonch under the guidance of NCC Directorate JK&L and NCC Group HQ Jammu has officially launched the Vibrant Village Programme 2025, a significant initiative of the Central Government aimed at promoting holistic community development. The inaugural event took place today at Government Higher Secondary School in Jhullas, located in the vicinity of the Line of Control which featured enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, school students, local government organisations and community members.
Today’s programme was designed to foster a spirit of self-grooming and cleanliness among the youth while effectively promoting health awareness and community engagement. Several key local organisations joined forces for the event including the local Army Battalion of Ace of the Spade Division, J&K Police, Medical Department, Municipality, social organisation leaders and community members. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of collective participation in driving positive change.
The event commenced with an inspiring address from the Commanding Officer and the Administrative Officer of the 5 J&K NCC Battalion, who encouraged the young NCC cadets to fully embrace their roles as community leaders. They emphasised the significance of participating in the various activities planned for the next eight months, which will focus on diverse aspects of personal and community development.
Dr. Harjit Singh, Medical Officer at the Government Hospital in Poonch shared valuable insights on the importance of health and hygiene, offering practical advice on disease prevention and the benefits of maintaining good health in achieving ones life goals. His engaging presentation resonated with both the young cadets and the broader community, amplifying the programmes core message of health as a foundation for success.
The event featured a vibrant rally organised by the Principal, staff and NCC ANO, Firsst Officer Kuldeep Sharma, a dedicated teacher at the School. The rally, which commenced from the school premises and proceeded to Jhullas Chowk, served as a powerful visual demonstration of community unity and support for the Vibrant Village Programme. Participants carried banners and placards to highlight the importance of health awareness, cleanliness, and overall community vigour, with the energy of the cadets energising the villagers along the route.
The Vibrant Village Programme is not just a one-time initiative; it is a sustained effort aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility and ownership among the local youth. Over the next eight months, a variety of events including workshops, clean-up drives, health camps, and cultural activities will be organised to engage young people in meaningful activities that enrich both their personal growth and the community fabric.
The participation of the local Army Battalion and J&K Police in the programme further strengthens ties between youth and security personnel, fostering mutual respect and collaboration. It also demonstrates the commitment of the Armed Forces and local law enforcement to community welfare.
