Weather advisory:All govt, private schools to remain closed on Aug 18th across Jammu Division

JAMMU/KISHTWAR/POONCH: DD, The authorities have ordered that all the government as well as private schools across Jammu region shall remain closed on August 18th in the wake of inclement weather conditions.
“In view of the inclement and bad weather conditions, it is hereby ordered that all the government and private schools in Jammu division shall remain closed for tomorrow i.e., August 18,” reads a message from the Director School Education, Jammu.
The directions have been issued following a forecast by the meteorological department that a fresh spell of light to moderate rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, warning about heavy showers and thunderstorms is likely till August 19.
As the Chashoti village in Padder (Kishtwar), and Kathua have witnessed deadly cloudbursts, causing extensive damage to the property and loss of lives, the school education department has taken precautionary measures by ordering closing of school on August 18.
Keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions as well as the weather advisory, the authorities in Kishtwar have ordered that all government and private schools across district Kishtwar shall remain closed tomorrow in the interest of the safety and security of the students.


“All heads of the institutions, and zonal education officers (ZEOs) are directed to strictly ensure that no student is exposed to any kind of risk during this period,” reads a message from the Chief Education Officer, Kishtwar.
The message also cautions and asks the institution heads to take all precautionary measures to safeguard school property, and communicate immediately in case of any emergency situation arising due to adverse weather conditions.
Similarly, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Poonch, citing severe weather forecast, has directed all the government, and private schools in Poonch to remain closed on August 18.
The schools have been strictly directed to remain closed across the region as the authorities are observing utmost precautions.DD
