Week long training programme for JKAS officers commences at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur

Udhampur:DD, A one-week training programme for Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers commenced today at the Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur.

The programme has been designed to strengthen professional competence by providing exposure to key areas of policing, public administration, and contemporary governance challenges.

Inaugurating the course, Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director SKPA, stressed on the importance of synergy between civil administration and police for peace, good governance, and effective service delivery.

He noted that such training initiatives foster cross-learning, mutual understanding, and institutional coordination. Shri Dass also delivered the inaugural lecture, focusing on the role of collaborative leadership in present-day governance.

The training will cover law and order management, human rights, disaster management, community policing, emerging security challenges, and coordination between police and civil administration.

To promote physical fitness and discipline, the schedule also includes morning PT, yoga, police drills, ceremonial drills, awareness about weapons, and Passing Out Parade–style practices.

On the inaugural day, Sarah Rizvi, IPS, DIG, Udhampur Range, and Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, Deputy Director (Indoor), SKPA, delivered lectures on Structure and Organization of Police and the New Criminal Laws.

Eighteen JKAS officers are participating in the programme, which is being coordinated by Shri Rakesh Sambyal, CPO, assisted by Inspector Vikas Manhas, Faculty Member, SKPA,DD
