Udhampur :TDD, In a significant operation against wildlife smuggling, the Udhampur Wildlife Department successfully intercepted a smuggler here today, on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Samroli area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur . During a special naka operation, wildlife officials apprehended an individual attempting to transport 20 parrots to Kashmir. The smuggler, who has been detained for further investigation, was unable to provide valid documents for the birds.
Babu Ram, Block Officer of the Wildlife Block Sudhmahadev, Udhampur, explained that the department had received specific information about the smuggling attempt. Acting on this intelligence, a special naka was established at Samroli on Jammu Srinagar National highway. When the suspect vehicle was intercepted and inspected, the 20 parrots were found concealed in a cage. The rescued birds have been transferred to the Tandey Rakh Rescue Centre in Udhampur for rehabilitation and care.TDD
