Srinagar, Sep 11: Awami Itehad Party (AIP) patron Engineer Sheikh Abdur Rashid today said that he will fight against the Prime Minister Narendera Modi’s narrative of Naya Kashmir till his last breath. He was quick to add that his fight was much bigger than National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah.
“August 5, 2019 got a tremendous response on June 4 from the north Kashmir parliamentary constituency. That was a vote against the Aug 5, 2019 decision taken by Prime Minister Narendera Modi. So I will fight against PM Modi’s narrative of Naya Kashmir. My fight is also for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue till my last breath,” said Er Rashid while talking to reporters in New Delhi soon after his release from Tihar jail after five long years.
Er Rashid said that PM Modi’s narrative of Naya Kashmir narrative has miserably failed. On his reply to a query about National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, Er Rashid said Omar was fighting for the chair. “My fight is for my people, the people of Kashmir. My fight is much bigger that what Omar Abdullah is fighting for. There is a difference between spending five years in London and spending the same in Tihar jail where prisoners cry for medical attention and are yet denied the same,” said Er Rashid. The North Kashmir Member Parliament defeated Omar in Parliamentary polls by over two lakh votes.
Er Rashid said that he can’t forget dozens of Kashmiri prisoners who need medical attention in Tihar jail but are denied the same. The North Kashmir MP said that he will go back to the people to unite them and not to divide them. “If that’s a crime, I am proud to commit this crime again and again. If I will have to spend my entire life in Tihar for this crime, I am ready,” he said. TDD
