Winners can’t loose on Article 370: New NC MLAs

Srinagar,(TDD): National Conference leaders who won from various Assembly seats from Kashmir today said since they are the winners and that they can’t loose the stand on the Article 370. They said whatever has been promised in the manifesto has to be fulfilled.
Talking to reporters at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subh complex in Srinagar ahead of the NC’s Legislature Pary Meet, NC leader Justice (Rtd) Hasnain Masoodi said that there was an open front against NC in the just concluded polls. “All forces had joined hands against us. But people gave them a befitting reply,” he said. Masoodi emerged victorious from saffron town of Kashmir, Pampore defeating PDP’s Zahoor Mir with a good margin of votes.
He said that people have reposed a great trust after 32 long years and it’s the duty of NC leadership to reciprocate. “Independent candidates were fielded every where in Kashmir to distribute and cut votes. But people knew the ploy and responded very cleverly by voting wisely,” Masoodi said.
Asked about the stand of NC on Article 370, Masoodi, the former NC MP, said to get back what has been snatched from J&K people on August 5, 2019 will have to be returned. “This is the first promise in our political manifesto. No question of forgetting it or changing the stance on it,” Masoodi said, adding that if people can’t buy land in Nagaland, how the same is a challenge for India’s sovereignty in J&K.
Nazir Gurezi, who won Gurez Assembly seat for NC, said that people have given a huge mandate to the party. “It is the responsibility of the party now to serve people. Whatever promises have been made have to be fulfilled,” said Gurezi. Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri who won from Bijbehara told TDD that every party leader has to stick to what has been promised in the manifesto. “No question of backtracking,” he said.
Tanvir Sadiq who won from Zadibal Assembly seat in Srinagar with a huge margin defeating Abid Ansari, said BJP has been in the government directly and indirectly since past ten years and let them be in the opposition now.
“We are ready to face BJP as an opposition,” Sadiq said. He said there was no question of dragging the feet from what NC has promised. “Whatever we have promised including Article 370, we will fight for it, strive hard for its return,” he said. (TDD)
