Woman Shot Dead by VDG Member in Kishtwar’s Chatroo

Kishtwar, (DD) A shocking incident of violence has emerged from the Chatroo sub-division of Kishtwar district, where a Village Defence Guard (VDG) allegedly opened fire and killed a woman late last night.

The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, son of Ram Lal, a resident of the area. He is alleged to have shot dead Pushpa Devi, wife of Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Singpura Areagam village in Chatroo.

According to initial reports, the woman died on the spot due to gunshot injuries. The motive behind the shooting is still unclear.

Police have confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.
