Women Grievance Cell Organizes Awareness Programme on POSH Act, 2013 in Collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Kishtwar

Kishtwar, DD, The Women Grievance Cell of Government Degree College (GDC), Kishtwar, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kishtwar, organized a comprehensive awareness programme on the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. The event was held under the convenership of Dr. Tabassum and the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. Basharat Iqbal.

The objective of the programme was to sensitize students and faculty members about the legal provisions, importance, and practical implementation of the POSH Act, which is a cornerstone in safeguarding women’s rights and ensuring a safe, inclusive working and learning environment.

Advocate Afshan Malik and Advocate Iram Sabha, both respected legal professionals, served as resource persons. They conducted engaging and informative sessions focusing on the legal framework of the POSH Act, real-world case studies, complaint redressal mechanisms, and the roles and responsibilities of Internal Complaints Committees.

The programme saw active participation from approximately 150 attendees, including students and faculty members. Notable faculty members present at the event included Dr. Yasar Ahmed, Dr. Sehrish Gazal, and Dr. Usman.

An interactive Q\&A session concluded the event, offering participants an opportunity to seek clarifications and discuss key legal and procedural aspects in greater depth.

The Women Grievance Cell and DLSA, Kishtwar, reiterated their commitment to promoting awareness, legal literacy, and a culture of safety and dignity for women within educational institutions and beyond.DD
