Srinagar, (TDD): National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that there was no question of any compromise on the party manifesto that promises restoration of special status in J&K.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Dr Farooq said that let the parties oppose as they have to do so. “There is no question of budging even an inch as far as our party manifesto is concerned,” the NC chief said.
He said that NC document is before people and the party is committed to fulfil every promise made in it.
Dr Farooq’s statement comes at a time when parties like PDP and Peoples Conference are criticising NC on the pretext that the party has entered into a compromise over Article 370 restoration and that the resolution on the same passed in the Legislative Assembly recently was ambiguous. Today, soon after the crucial meeting of his party, PDP MLA from Pulwama Waheed ur Rehman Para while castigating Chief Minister Omar Abdullah claimed that visiting Delhi and meeting Union Ministers there won’t solve the peoples’ problems. He said these visits amount to diversion from the basic issues of restoration of Article 370 and Article 35 A.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq while replying to a query about Kashmir’s Head priest Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s statement that dialogue was must for restoration of peace in J&K, said: “I am glad to see Mirwaiz free. I am happy to see him talking about peace in J&K. We all have to work towards establishing peace in J&K.”—(TDD)
