World Environment Day Celebrated with Zeal at DIET

Leh, DD, The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh celebrated World Environment Day today with great enthusiasm, bringing together students, educators, to raise awareness about environmental protection. The event was graced by the former Professor of the University of Ladakh, Mr. Deskyong Namgyal, who attended as the Chief Guest.

The highlight of the celebration was a drawing competition organized on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”, in alignment with this year’s global environmental campaign. The competition saw active participation from students across various government schools of the Leh district, who showcased their creativity and concern for the environment through powerful artwork.

In his keynote address, Mr. Deskyong Namgyal appreciated the efforts of DIET Leh in engaging young minds through creative platforms and encouraged the students to become ambassadors of environmental change in their communities.

The winners of the drawing competition were felicitated during the event:

1 Prize: Sonam Dolma, Class 11th, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Nyoma

2nd Prize: Navang Dadon, Class 9th, Govt. High School Igoo.

3 Prize. Phuntsog Yangskit, Class 11th, Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Leh.

The programme concluded with a pledge to protect nature, reduce plastic waste, and spread awareness about environmental issues. The event was a vibrant reminder of the power of youth and education in building a greener, cleaner Ladakh.DD
