“You Are Not Keeping Us Safe,” Woman Protester Shouts at Federal Enforcement Agents

Minneapolis Witnesses Massive Protests Against ICE

Diplomat Foreign Desk
Minneapolis (USA): Protesters continued to raise their voices against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a federal law enforcement agency.

ICE personnel, as in other states across the United States of America, allegedly shot dead a woman in what the federal agency termed an “act of self-defense.” The incident triggered massive protest demonstrations in Minneapolis, with protesters from different walks of life taking to the streets.

The mayor of the area also confronted the claims of the federal agency, calling the killing unjustified and opposing the activities of ICE in Minneapolis.

As people gathered across the city, the federal agency sought help from local police to defuse the situation. However, protesters continued to gather and blocked the site, shouting slogans against ICE.

“One woman was murdered in broad daylight, and it was not her fault,” one woman protester was heard shouting during the protest, while another termed the act absurd and unnecessary, stating that an innocent woman was killed in “cold blood.”

Importantly, the federal agency is conducting routine raids at houses, grocery stores, car wash stations, and shopping areas to identify and detain undocumented immigrants across the United States.

Many times, ICE’s methods of detention, including chasing immigrants or even U.S. nationals under suspicion, have been questioned and strongly opposed by citizens. These raids and detentions are being carried out under the direction of the administration as a matter of policy to deport undocumented immigrants from the country.
