Udhampur :- The People of Udhampur in a bit of shock when armed attackers engaged a youth in a brazen broad daylight attack at bustling Salathia Chowk, Udhampur . The victim, Saurabh Singh Rathore, a native of Umla, received critical injuries when the attackers targeted him with sharp edged weapons.
The attack happened in a dramatic sequence when the attackers, displaying unprecedented audacity, chased Rathore through the crowded marketplace. In an attempt to get away, Rathore took shelter in a shop near him. However, the attackers, displaying no regard for public presence, followed him into the shop and committed a brutal attack.
Local onlookers were successful in overpowering and detaining one of the criminals with the help of Police, while the other escaped. Rathore has been taken to the Associated Hospital Medical College Udhampur for treatment, where he is now being treated for his injuries.
Speaking on the issue, DSP Headquarters Prahlad Singh, who inspected the crime site, said an investigation into the incident has already been launched. While confirming one of the arrestees, he said, “Intensive search operations are in place to apprehend the rest of the accused.” “The arrested person will be dealt with according to the law, and we will bring all the perpetrators before the law,” the DSP said.
The incident has sent shockwaves of fear among the residents of Udhampur as they express their deep concern over the law and order situation in the city. TDD
