Sopore, (DD) In a shocking case of alleged medical negligence, authorities in Sopore have sealed the operation theatre of a private hospital after a woman, who was scheduled for an ear surgery, reportedly had her uterus removed instead.
According to sources, the woman was undergoing treatment at Hakim Sonuallah Hospital under a particular doctor’s supervision. However, in the doctor’s absence, another surgeon allegedly performed the procedure and mistakenly conducted a hysterectomy instead of the planned ear surgery.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are demanding strict action against those responsible.
Operation Theatre Sealed, Authorities Launch Probe
Taking swift action, authorities have sealed the hospital’s operation theatre, citing serious lapses in medical protocols. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore SA Raina confirmed the move, stating that the hospital management, doctors, and staff have been served notices.
“We are investigating the matter thoroughly. Preliminary findings suggest that this operation theatre should not have been operational in the first place, and therefore, we have sealed it. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” Raina said.
The shocking blunder has left the Sopore community enraged, with many questioning the hospital’s safety standards. Imtiyaz Ahmad, a local resident, expressed his anger: “This is not just negligence—it’s a tragedy. The hospital must be held accountable.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s family is devastated and demanding justice. “We trusted them, and they destroyed her life. This should never happen to anyone else,” said a distraught relative.
As investigations continue, the case has raised urgent concerns about medical oversight in private healthcare facilities. Authorities have assured that those responsible will face legal consequences.(DD)
