Crackdown on Illegal SIM distribution to intensify

Srinagar, (DD): In a major crackdown on the misuse of communication networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested over 30 individuals in the past year for illegally procuring and supplying SIM cards to terrorists.
A police spokesperson emphasized the seriousness of the issue, warning that anyone found facilitating such activities will face strict legal action.
“Citizens must remain vigilant about SIM cards issued in their names. The misuse of communication networks for terrorism or organized crime will not be tolerated,” the spokesperson said.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) and district police units are intensifying enforcement efforts, conducting inspections across multiple districts—including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Bandipora, Samba, and Kishtwar—to ensure strict adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms by SIM card vendors.
Authorities have vowed to continue these efforts to prevent unauthorized issuance and misuse of SIM cards, safeguarding public security and maintaining the integrity of communication networks(DD)
