NC, Congress, PDP used to gain from boycot politics but not anymore: Tarun Chug in Jammu

Arun Jasrotia
Udhampur, (TDD) -Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a scathing attack on the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress regarding the ongoing elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Chugh claimed that these parties are experiencing a sense of despair and disappointment following the first phase of voting in the region.

Chugh argued that the opposition parties have realized that their previous electoral successes were largely due to their politics of boycott. He asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have now embraced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development model, expressing both trust and blessings through their participation in the democratic process. The BJP leader emphasized that this shift in public sentiment, particularly after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, represents a significant victory for Prime Minister Modi and the principles of democracy as envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the Indian Constitution.

Continuing his critique, Chugh suggested that leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Engineer Rashid, and the Congress party, along with Pakistan, are alarmed by the high voter turnout. He accused these parties of historically relying on boycott politics to gain power and claimed that their agenda is no longer accepted by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chugh drew attention to recent statements by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister regarding Article 370, alleging that it proves a shared agenda between the National Conference, Congress, and Pakistan. He criticized Farooq Abdullah for frequently praising Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi for discussing China and Pakistan, insinuating that these actions are coordinated and that both the National Conference and Congress are acting as puppets of Pakistan.
The BJP leader predicted significant losses for Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and the Congress in the Assembly elections, citing public resentment against the Nehru-Gandhi family. Chugh also levelled serious accusations against Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, holding them responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 and the rise of anti-national sentiments in the region during their tenures as Chief Minister and Home Minister, respectively.
Chugh asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have not forgotten the hardships they endured due to terrorism and poor governance. He expressed confidence that voters would respond decisively in the upcoming elections, rejecting the opposition parties. Chugh also reiterated Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in the future.(TDD)
