Government Withholds Salaries of 18 BDOs for Poor e-KYC Performance Under MGNREGA

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar: DD, The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the withholding of salaries of 18 Block Development Officers (BDOs) for their poor performance in completing the e-KYC process of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA workers, terming it a serious lapse in official duties.

The order, issued by the Secretary to the Government as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, followed a detailed review meeting held on November 2, 2025, wherein it was observed that several blocks had performed far below the Union Territory’s average of 49.68 percent. The lack of progress was described as “dereliction of duty” on the part of the concerned officers.

As per the order, BDOs from Kupwara, Trehgam, Rajwara, Herri Qadriabad, Panthal, Kalaroose, Harwan, Sogam, Mawar Qalamabad, Kralpora, Ramhal, Magam, Nadihal, Khonmoh, Reddi Chowkibal, Qaziabad, Srinagar, and Thakrakote have been directed not to draw their salaries for October 2025, and their November salaries will also remain withheld until e-KYC targets are fully achieved.

The directive underscores the Government’s push for accountability and timely completion of digital verification under MGNREGA across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
