‘Protesters disperse after police lathi-charge’

KATHUA,(TDD): A protest demonstration was today staged in Kathua district by the residents, including women, against the installation of the smart meters.
Opposing the installation of the smart meters in their respective areas, the people came out on the road, and staged a protest, disrupting the vehicular traffic amid sloganeering against the authorities.
Even as the police tried to convince them to move away from the road, the locals said that the protest continued, leading to arguments, forcing the police to use baton charge to disperse the protesters.
Although no one was wounded, the locals said that the protesters dispersed from the site following baton charge.((TDD)
