New Delhi/Jammu: Amit Sharma, IAS, Director Census Operations and Director Citizen Registration, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, shared his expertise in the IT domain at the prestigious 20th Annual Information Security Summit (AISS) organised by NASSCOM-DSCI in the National Capital Region. The three-day summit witnessed participation from leading national and international cybersecurity and technology experts.

Speaking during the session, Sharma highlighted the evolving digital governance landscape and stressed that future frameworks must be driven by artificial intelligence and blockchain-based secure models. He noted that system integrity, privacy, and information security are fundamental to successful digital reforms, citing the forthcoming first-ever Paperless Digital Census of India as an example of technology-led transformation.

The organisers, led by Atul Kumar, Director DSCI, felicitated Amit Sharma during the summit and expressed gratitude for his insights, noting that his perspectives would significantly contribute to shaping the national roadmap for a secure and resilient IT ecosystem.

Earlier this week, Amit Sharma was also invited to J&K IMPARD to interact with a fresh batch of JKAS probationers undergoing training. Addressing the trainees, he spoke about adopting technology-driven governance models to improve public service delivery and shared lessons from his tenure as IT Secretary and CEO, J&K e-Governance Agency.

He also cited contemporary examples of successful e-governance interventions implemented during his assignments in Mizoram—including e-Office, DigiLocker and BHASHINI—and earlier in Ladakh, where initiatives such as SWAN and e-Office were operationalised under his leadership.

At the conclusion of the session, the IMPARD team led by Director Courses Reva Sharma described Amit Sharma—topper of the 2001 JKAS batch and later allocated to the 2012 IAS AGMUT cadre—as a results-driven reformer who has consistently delivered on challenging assignments across diverse regions of the country.
