Kathua, J&K (India): Police today claimed to have arrested two persons in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua District.
These two persons were allegedly in touch with a cross-border narcotic smuggler in Pakistan. Kathua is one of the border districts in the Jammu plains situated along the India-Pakistan International Border.
The SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma told Diplomat Digital that: “They received a specific information was received about a drone-dropping incident along the J&K–Punjab border near Nagri in Kathua.
Acting swiftly on the input, police launched a detailed investigation.
With the help of technical analysis and CCTV footage, the first accused, Jatin son of Ajeet Kumar, resident of Manwal, Pathankot, was apprehended.
During further investigation, the second accused, Danish Dogra alias Sajan, son of Shamsher, resident of Jakhbar, Kathua, was also arrested as part of the forward linkage.
With the arrest of both persons, the SSP informed that approximately 150 grams of heroin were recovered. This narcotic was allegedly drone-dropped from Pakistan.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler through VoIP calls and had received the heroin consignment with the intention of selling it to vulnerable youth for monetary gain.
The accused have been booked under FIR No. 71/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kathua.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the entire smuggling network, and more arrests are likely.DD
