Security forces on alert across Jammu region to combat terrorism, search operation intensified

Jammu: DD, The International Border residents have started renovating, white washing, and clearing the civilian bunkers in the border villages, amid rising tension between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Although the International Border remains peaceful, the villagers in Arnia, Suchetgarh and other areas in Jammu, Samba and Kathua Districts have taken initiative to renovate/clean/white wash the civilian bunkers along the border that provide safe shelters to the villagers in case of hostile situation between the India-Pakistan.
“We are cleaning the bunkers so that they can be used during any kind of hostile situation between the two countries. We stand with whatever decision is being taken by the Government of India to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack,” the local resident said.
Similarly, the civilian population is equally cautious about the recent development in Rajouri-Poonch, and accordingly, they are taking all the precautions amid increasing tension along the Line of Control (LoC).
Meanwhile, the farmers along the International Border from Kathua, Samba, Jammu, and Akhnoor have been harvesting the crop along all the border villages and close to the fence.
M.S. Bhatti, president of Border Kissan Union, told Diplomat Digital that they are well prepared to face any situation on the border.
He also said that they have expertise in the harvest activities.
Pertinently, the security forces have also increased their monitoring in complete synergy with the people, local police, army, paramilitary and security agencies in the Jammu region.
In the recent past, the security forces have detected foreign terrorists tracking through the areas in Samba-Kathua towards the upper reaches, and successfully neutralized three of them.
Recently, an Indian Army’s Para Commando got martyred during an encounter with the terrorists in Basantgarh (Udhampur District), when an input was received about the terrorist movement.
When the security forces are combating the terrorism in Kashmir valley, the security grid has also been tightened in Jammu region and its hilly areas.
Reports from Kishtwar also cited continued search operations in the mountains to track down any terrorist or hideouts.DD
