Iran to Begin ‘Indirect’ Talks with US in Switzerland

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, ahead of the second round of “indirect” talks with the United States of America regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, according to Iran’s Press TV.

As the region faces the possibility of armed conflict, the second round of “indirect” talks has raised hopes of resolving the nuclear issue without going to war.
The first round of talks was held in Oman last week. In Geneva, Oman will again act as a mediator to ease rising tensions between the US and the Iranian regime.

To mount pressure on Iran, the US has undertaken a massive military build-up, although Arab nations are trying to mediate to avoid conflict.

The Iranian regime has also shown willingness to reduce tensions with the US over the nuclear program, but it is not ready to compromise on its missile program.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, addressing US soldiers at Fort Bragg Army Base, North Carolina, termed Iran a difficult negotiator and said instilling fear in Tehran would be important to end the impasse.

On the other hand, Tehran has made it clear that it is not going to compromise on its missile and other defence programs.
