Udhampur,TDD, In a high-powered meeting, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, laid down the law, demanding stricter action against criminals and improved investigation efficiency.
The meeting, held at Range Police HQs Udhampur, saw DIG Bhat commend officers for their work during recent elections and VVIP movements. However, the focus quickly shifted to tackling crime, particularly in areas like Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) cases, Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) violations, and bovine smuggling.
DIG Bhat emphasized the need for “timely disposal” of cases, especially older ones. He directed officers to hold regular crime reviews and brief investigators to expedite investigations.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of community engagement. DIG Bhat stressed organizing sports activities, particularly in remote areas, in collaboration with security forces. This initiative aims to keep youth away from societal ills and foster a sense of hope and trust within communities.
Taking a tough stance on narcotics, DIG Bhat demanded “strict and well-planned action” against drug traffickers. Additionally, he emphasized the prompt resolution of online and offline complaints, including those submitted through the Sahulat App. This move aims to improve public service delivery and build trust with the community.
“Zero tolerance” was the message for repeat offenders, Over Ground Workers (OGWs), surrendered/released terrorists, and bovine smugglers. DIG Bhat emphasized a tough approach to maintain a safe and secure environment for the public.
The meeting also addressed initiatives to seize properties of individuals linked to UAPA/NDPS activities and OGWs.
Participating officers were instructed to tighten security measures, including activating Village Defence Groups (VDGs), intensifying patrolling, and launching Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs). They were also directed to ensure night checks by officers deployed at critical infrastructure and with protected individuals.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials from both Udhampur and Reasi districts.TDD
