Srinagar, (TDD) : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed on Monday that his administration is committed to restoring J&K’s statehood. Expressing hope to work alongside the newly formed government and Legislative Assembly as “One Team,” he outlined several priorities for the region.

Speaking at the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar, LG said his desire for the House members’ cooperation. “My government will work closely with all of you,” he said, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also supports the restoration of J&K’s statehood. “The Council of Ministers has passed a resolution, which I’ve approved, reflecting the aspirations of J&K’s people.”

The LG highlighted J&K’s economic progress, citing an annual growth rate of 7 percent and stressing his administration’s focus on employment, fiscal stability, and equal treatment for all regions to foster a prosperous society. He assured that key concerns like roads, power, water, and internet connectivity remain top priorities.

He also mentioned that strict implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes would drive J&K’s development. “Rail connectivity from Delhi to Kashmir will be transformative,” he said, while programs like PMGSY and NABARD will be enforced for wide-reaching impact. The introduction of night landing systems at Jammu and Srinagar airports is also expected to benefit the local economy.

The LG added that efforts are underway to extend development to J&K’s most remote areas. “Plans are being finalized to offer 100 units of free electricity to eligible households,” he mentioned.

With a focus on harnessing natural resources and supporting socio-economic upliftment, the LG announced the implementation of C Rangarajan’s poverty report. Furthermore, all government buildings will transition to solar power under the PM Surya Ghar Yojna.

In the health sector, the LG promised quality healthcare facilities, along with intensified efforts to combat drug abuse across J&K. For farmers, he assured that innovative approaches would support their needs, while urban infrastructure would be upgraded to meet the demands of urban residents. The LG also said that his government will also take serious efforts to bring back the migrant Kashmiri Pandits by providing them safe and secure accommodation.(TDD)
