Jammu,TDD,As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance surgical services, AIIMS Jammu achieved a significant milestone on Friday, 27/09/2024, with the successful removal of a thyroid gland tumor by the Department of ENT. This procedure, known as a thyroidectomy, was expertly conducted by a dedicated ENT surgical team comprising Dr. Amardeep Singh (Associate Professor), Dr. Darwin Kaushal (Additional Professor), Dr. Akriti Mahajan (Senior Resident), and Dr. Muskan Rao (Junior Resident). The anaesthesia team, which played a crucial role in ensuring the operation’s success, included Dr. Sunana Gupta (Additional Professor), Dr. Raksha Kundal (Associate Professor), Dr. Pallavi Bloria, and Dr. Sakshi Gupta (Senior Residents).
The introduction of specialized thyroid care at AIIMS Jammu comes at a time when there is a notably high prevalence of thyroid disorders, particularly in the regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.
