Amit Sharma Tours Census Pre-Test Sites in Kashmir & Jammu to Ensure its Successful Culmination

Srinagar/Jammu, DD, Amit Sharma, IAS Director Census Operations (DCO) & Director Citizen Registration (DCR), Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh conducted multiple visits in Census Pre-Test locations in the Union Terrotiry of Jammu & Kashmir to ensure the successful and timely culmination of this important one-month long activity here which shall serve as a basis for the conduct of Census 2026-27 all over the nation.

DCO J&K and Ladakh Amit Sharma initially conducted an extensive tour of Kangan Tehsil of Ganderbal District in Kashmir which was chosen as a Rural location to conduct this Pre-Test activity. He was accompanied by Joint Director Arun Kumar, Assistant Director Vijay Kumar and other Census team officials during this visit wherein they held a detailed interaction session with SDM Kangan Dr Nasir Ali, Tehsildar Kangan Dr Mudasir, Enumerators and Supervisors who briefed him about the conduct of Pre-Test in entire Kangan tehsil over lone month period while sharing the challenges to be addressed before conduct of actual Cnesus activity in the entire nation soon.

Likewise, in the second phase, DCO J&K Ladakh Amit Sharma, alongwith his team, happened to visit Ramgarh Municipal Committee in Samba district which had been chosen as an Urban location for the conduct of Census Pre-Test activity in Jammu division. Here, DCO was accompanied by Deputy Director Census Manmeet Singh, Assistant Director Jatinder Kumar and other key Census Officials who were involved with this acitivity. During the visit, a meeting-cum-Interaction Session was held with Tehsildar Ramgarh Abhimanyu and Municipal Committee Officials, Enumerators and Supervisors whose feedback and suggestions were taken so as to ensure upcoming Census activity’s success in the entire Union Territory and entire nation. Amit also conducted random visits and got feedback of public regarding conduct of this Census Pre-Test activity which was recorded by the team to include in overall list of suggestions to be shared with ORGI, Government of India soon.

During the twin tours and meetings held in both the Divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, DCO Amit Sharma emphasized that the Pre-Test experiences including technical glitches which were being addressed during this Pre-Test activity, shall become the basis and stepping stones to conduct successful Census activity in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh under constant guidance and support from Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, which is a wing of Minsitry of Home Affairs, Givernment of India.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Census in 2026-27 which is being conducted after a gap of almost one and half decade since 2011 (last Census conduct year of India) shall be the first Digital Census envisioned by the Government of India wherein Amit Sharma can contribute immensely with his vast experience in successfully handling numerous digital initiatives in three states/UTs consecutively, while serving there as Administrative Secretary in Information Technology domain.DD
