CEC Leh Adv Tashi Gyalson Attends Grand Offering Ceremony in Commemoration of the 808th Mahaparinirvana Anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon

Phyang,DD, Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, along with Councillors including Tundup Nurbu of Phyang constituency; Ven. Konchok Tsepal, nominated Sanga Councillor and Phuntsog Nurboo, nominated Councillor attended the grand offering ceremony commemorating the 808th Mahaparinirvana anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon—founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage and revered as the Dharma Lord of the Three Realms.
The sacred event was held at Photang Gatsaling, Gaon Tashi Choszang Monastery, Phyang.

The occasion was graced by H.E. Khanchen Konchok Rangdol Rinpoche as Chief Guest and witnessed the presence of distinguished guests including Ven. Dorje Stanzin, President of the LGA; Smt. Kunzes Dolma, Women’s President, LBA; Jigmet Rabstan, Youth President, LBA; Khanpos, Drupons, and Lopons such as Khanpo Konchok Stanzin, Khanpo Shasdup Konchok, and Khanpo Konchok Rigzin; Director of Go Green Go Organic, Goba members, and local villagers.

Organised jointly by the villagers and the Phyang monastic community, the ceremony received generous sponsorship from the revered monastic institutions of Gaon Tashi Choszang, Yundrung Tharpaling, and Shachukul Phuntsog Chosling Monasteries, whose continued support remains invaluable to such sacred undertakings.

The event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by H.E. Khanchen Konchok Rangdol Rinpoche and Hon’ble CEC, followed by mandala offerings from councillors and local leaders.
The gathering was further enriched by offering prayers by little monks of Ratnashri School, traditional dances from Ama Tsogspa, and cultural presentations by youth groups from Shara and Phyang villages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Councillor Phyang Tundup Nurbu expressed heartfelt gratitude to CEC and LAHDC Leh for their unwavering support toward the holistic development of Phyang village.

In his address, CEC expressed deep reverence for the teachings of Lord Jigten Sumgon and urged all to carry forward the spiritual path shown by the great lamas.
He expressed gratitude for the relentless service of H.E. Khanchen Konchok Rangdol Rinpoche and highlighted with pride Ladakh’s own contribution to the Drikung lineage, with the third Khanchen hailing from the region. Emphasising the importance of righteous intent in one’s actions, he reminded the gathering that, “when your intentions are pure, everything naturally falls into place.”

The ceremony stood as a powerful reminder of the timeless spiritual legacy of Lord Jigten Sumgon.DD
