Udhampur :TDD, Chief Election Officer Pandurang Kondbarao Pole (P.K. Pole) recently visited Udhampur district to oversee preparations for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections. During his inspection tour, Pole examined counting rooms, control rooms, and intermediate strong rooms, stressing strict adherence to Election Commission guidelines. In a media interaction, he provided updates on the ongoing election preparations, highlighting that scrutiny of nominations is underway and preparations have been in progress for the past 4-5 months. Pole assured that security measures are in place and emphasized new initiatives for the elections, including a “Green Elections” campaign where 10-12 plants will be planted at each polling station. He also mentioned the continuation of home voting facilities for specially-abled and elderly voters. Expressing confidence in the process, Pole cited good public participation in recent Lok Sabha elections despite challenging weather conditions and expects high voter turnout for the upcoming Assembly elections as well. The Chief Election Officer concluded his visit by planting a sapling at the Women’s Degree College in Udhampur, symbolizing the commitment to environmentally friendly election practices.TDD
